Email support@foldremote.app with what you see on the phone and on the Mac. A screenshot from each helps.
The phone shows a moving test pattern
The helper doesn’t have Screen Recording permission yet. On your Mac, open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Screen Recording, and turn on the FoldRemote helper. Then choose Restart Helper from its menu‑bar icon.
I can see my Mac, but taps do nothing
Turn on the helper under Privacy & Security, then Accessibility. That permission is what lets your taps move the pointer and type.
My Mac doesn’t show up
Check that the helper is running; its icon should be in the menu bar. At home, the phone looks for it on your Wi‑Fi, so FoldRemote needs Local Network access on the phone (Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Local Network).
I need a new pairing code
Open the helper’s menu on your Mac and start pairing again. It shows a fresh 6‑digit code.
Commands come out as the wrong key
Turn off any modifier that’s still lit in the keyboard row. Cmd, opt, ctrl and shift stay on until you tap them a second time.
Common questions
Which permissions does the helper need?
Two, both in System Settings under Privacy & Security. Screen Recording lets it see your screen, and Accessibility lets your taps move the pointer and type. Without Screen Recording, the phone shows a moving test pattern where your desktop should be.
How do I right‑click or drag?
Long press to right‑click. To drag, long press and then move your finger; a magnifier follows it so you can see where things will land. Two fingers scroll.
Can I type on it?
Yes. Tap Keyboard for the iOS keyboard with a row of Mac keys above it: cmd, opt, ctrl, shift, esc, tab and the arrows. Those modifiers stay on until you tap them again, which is how you do a cmd‑click. A hardware keyboard works too.
How does the phone reach my Mac?
Over the network. The helper on your Mac streams its screen to the phone as video, and your taps go back as clicks and keystrokes. At home, the phone finds the helper on your Wi‑Fi.
