Terms of use

The rules for using FoldRemote and FoldRemote Pro. Last updated October 22, 2026.

These terms cover your use of the FoldRemote app for iPhone Duo, the FoldRemote helper for Mac, the FoldRemote relay and connection service, and the foldremote.app website. FoldRemote is made by Scientific Animations, Inc., a Delaware corporation registered in California, at 2517 Tea Leaf Lane, Tustin, CA 92782 ("we").

Apple's standard license

The app is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple’s standard EULA). These terms add to that agreement. Where the two conflict, Apple's agreement applies to the app as distributed through the App Store.

Free use

FoldRemote is free for everyone. On the same local network as your Mac, there is no time limit. Away from home, each session through the FoldRemote relay is limited to 10 minutes, and you can start a new session after a 3-minute break. Every feature is available on the free plan.

FoldRemote Pro

FoldRemote Pro removes the 10-minute limit on sessions away from home. It changes nothing else.

  • FoldRemote Pro Monthly: $2.99 a month, an auto-renewable subscription.
  • FoldRemote Pro Yearly: $19.99 a year, an auto-renewable subscription.
  • FoldRemote Pro Lifetime: $49.99, a one-time purchase that never renews.

Prices are in US dollars on the US App Store. Apple sets the price in other countries, and it may include tax.

Apple bills every purchase to your Apple Account when you confirm it. A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and Apple charges the next period within the 24 hours before it ends. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings (Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for.

"Lifetime" means the life of the FoldRemote product and its relay service. We can't promise the service will run forever. If we ever stop the relay, you get 60 days' notice, and using FoldRemote on the same network as your Mac keeps working because it needs none of our servers. We owe no refund beyond what Apple's policies provide.

Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue App Store refunds ourselves.

We may change Pro prices for future periods. Apple tells subscribers about price increases as its rules require.

The service

The relay and connection service depend on the internet, on our servers, and on your Mac being switched on, awake and running the helper. The relay is part of the service from launch. Outages happen. We may change or stop parts of the service, and If we stop the relay, we will announce it on foldremote.app at least 60 days before it shuts down. FoldRemote keeps working on your home network after that, because same-network use needs none of our servers.

Acceptable use

Use FoldRemote only to control Macs that you own or that you are authorized to use. You must not:

  • access or control any computer without permission;
  • use the relay to send anything other than FoldRemote sessions, or try to overload, probe or get around its limits, including the 10-minute free limit;
  • reverse engineer the relay or connection service, except where the law allows it;
  • break any law while using FoldRemote.

We may block devices or connections that break these rules.

Age

You must be at least 13 to use FoldRemote, or have a parent or guardian's permission where the law allows it.

No warranty

FoldRemote is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You are responsible for what happens on your Mac while you control it with FoldRemote.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we have no liability for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of FoldRemote. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for FoldRemote in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Orange County, California.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. If you keep using FoldRemote after a change, the new terms apply.
